Literally just finding out about the London-Calcutta bus service which apparently existed well into the 70’s. Wow. 😳😳 pic.twitter.com/VZAHtkbwzD

There were others. In the summer of 1970 I took a bus from Kabul to Munich. I think it took 13 days.

I took a bus from Connaught Circus in New Delhi to my home in Hendon, North London. It took a month. A story I have been writing for a while.

In 1972 I hitchhiked from UK to Australia with £250. Stepped off the boat in Perth utterly penniless. Not a single cent in my pocket. Great trip. Lived to tell the tale, anyway, which was an unexpected bonus at the time.

My stepmom took a bus similar to this one from the NL to Greece in the early ’70s. The says the bus went all the way to India too.

How neat! I drove from Germany to India and back in 2000. Straight through Iran, detours into Afghanistan. It wasn’t an easy drive in a Toyota defender – I’m impressed by the bus!!
